Planit+ was incorporated in Rickmansworth, Herts on 3 June 1991, as Dickinsons Financial Services Ltd, a joint venture between Pat O'Hara and Dickinsons Chartered Accountants, with the aim of delivering high quality, professional independent investment advice to the Dickinsons' clients.
Shortly thereafter, other accountancy and professional practices also wanted their clients to have access to the advice and services provided but the close link with Dickinsons became something of an obstacle.
Dickinsons' interest in the business was therefore acquired and the business name was changed to 'Professional Intermediary Services Limited' to reflect its autonomy and the principal business objective!
Over the years, the number of professional introducers increased and we were amongst the first to offer practices the opportunity of a joint venture 'in house' financial services business with a trading name and house style mirroring that of the practice itself.
Around 2004, significant financial legislative changes were looming on the horizon and we took a long hard look at our business and the market in general and discovered exactly what was (and is) wrong with the way 'traditional' investment advice is delivered in the UK.
As a result, we re-engineered the business away from the traditional 'product sales' led approach to a completely different way of dealing with client investments and financial planning advice, and changed our name to Planit+ to highlight these changes.
